Have you ever been watching Lord of the Rings and thought to yourself, “wow I really wish I had my very own Eye of Sauron in my home to watch over everything” If you have, you’re not crazy. The Eye of Sauron is the ever-watching eye in the sky for the almighty Lord of the Rings villain, Sauron. Other than one little mistake at the end of The Return of the King, the Eye of Sauron did a pretty good job of keeping those pesky hobbits at bay. If this is your dream then congratulations, you live in 2017 where anything is possible. The smart home appliance company, FIBARO, has released their motion sensor and it will detect more than just hobbits.
Capabilities
This motion sensor is completely wireless by using battery power. You don’t have to worry about always having to replace the battery either as it was designed to last 2 years with one battery. Due to this mobility, it can be placed nearly anywhere with its flexible smart bracket, which means no giant tower is required. The FIBARO motion sensor is just less than two inches in diameter making it the world’s smallest wireless motion sensor. It is even able to differentiate the size variation of different animals and alert any changes directly to your smart phone. This eye in the sky can do more than just watch things walk by, it can make your life easier.
Integration
Just as the Eye of Sauron was able to silently communicate with the leaders of the Orc armies, the FIBARO is able to communicate with other smart home devices. Other than sensing motion, this eye is able to measure things such as temperature and light levels for the ultimate home comfort. If it is a notoriously sunny day and the house appears to be heating up, the FIBARO motion sensor will automatically make the necessary adjustments for comfort and energy efficiency. It is even Apple HomeKit compatible to create seamless home comfort for any Apple users.
Verdict
With all of the new technology in home automation constantly coming out, the FIBARO may not be anything we haven’t seen before. Its not even the only home automation devise that reminds us of another movie. That being said, it delivers customers all the capabilities any of its competitors do in a much smaller package. If it’s as powerful as the Eye of Sauron as it looks similar, it is definitely worth $59.99.
