If you’re the type of person that needs the latest technology in entertainment, regardless of the cost or noticeable differences, than you have probably already purchased a 4K TV. In the ever changing world of televisions, 4K offers the clearest resolution and out performing 1080p HD. Although 4K is restricted to only a few shows and movies at the moment, it’s never too early to equip yourself with the capable devices. Here is a list of the best 4K media streaming devices of 2017.
Amazon Fire TV
If you’re a person that enjoys telling Alexa what to do with an Amazon Echo, you will love the Fire TV. The Fire TV offers about the same TV show and movie options as its competitors with just as little 4K options as well. The Amazon Fire TV plugs into a USB outlet. Luckily, that is usually on the back of your TV as it appears relatively awkward. If you are not a fan of voice control I would suggest a Chromecast or Roku but the Fire TV does offer a remote. Ironically, the best functionality of the Fire remote is its voice command capability. The Amazon Fire TV is not the best option but if you favor voice command over remote controls, the Fire TV is the best option with a great price.
If you are a true believer in the 4K entertainment life, than the Roku Ultra is probably your best bet. The Roku offers more TV shows and movies in 4K and HDR than any other single device. Not to mention the Roku may be the most simple to use. Equipped with possibly the most functional remote, the Roku thought of everything when they installed a button for finding lost remotes. With other 4K devices, updated sound bars that pass 4K and HDR standards are required. The Roku Ultra is the only 4K option that uses optical digital audio output allowing you to keep your old speakers. If volume is a concern, you are able to plug speakers into the Roku remote so only you have to listen. The Roku Ultra offers amazing quality, functionality and the most options for a very reasonable price.
Google Chromecast Ultra
For Google Chromecast users, this device will be nothing new. It offers essentially the same capabilities and functionality the basic Chromecast always has. Rather than using a remote to control what you watch, the Chromecast simply casts what you are watching on your phone, tablet or computer to your TV. Similar to the other options, Chromecast has voice command capabilities with any Google Home device. Unlike the other options, the Chromecast has an Ethernet adapter that allows viewing even without a Wi-Fi network. If you don’t mind ditching the remote in place of casting, the Google Chromecast Ultra is an excellent 4K option.
The Apple TV offers a few things its competitors don’t but the most obvious difference is price. If you just purchased an extremely nice, new 4K TV, it would make since to purchase the best 4K streaming device available. That being said, it is not $79 better than the next option unless money isn’t an issue. Like its competitors, the Apple TV offers an extensive list of apps in great speed with excellent quality and voice command. The difference is that the Apple TV delivers the best streaming video quality. The downside is that it doesn’t allow on-screen purchases from iTunes competitors such as Amazon but any Apple fan is use to that by now. If you are an Apple users and lover and are not concerned about the cost, the 4K Apple TV will give you the best experience.
