Everyone has once imagined what it would be like to live in a computerized home whether they got the idea from Disney’s ‘Smart House’ or one of the ‘Spy Kids’ movie trilogy. As the new iOS 11 gets released, many homeowners will get the chance to make their imaginations become a reality. With this new update, the Home app received a major upgrade to version 3.0.
Thanks to Home 3.0, this new system opens up an endless number of possibilities to home automation.
What’s New About It?
Nowadays, your smartphone is an essential to everyday living. You use it as an alarm clock to wake up, check social media, play music, read the news, call and text others; the list goes on and on. But now by connecting your device to your home, it has centralized your life and the way you live. The upgrade unlocks various new aspects such as the event trigger function. The home’s actions become based on certain factors like sunrise and sunset, leaving and arriving home, weekdays or weekends, and etc. It takes into consideration people presence in the home and how it can cater to them. Home 3.0 also includes a drag and drop framework which helps streamline your home and setting up your exact preferences. You can really customize your home to the last minute detail.
How Does It Look?
Although performance is what is most important, we all know how the design looks is an essential aspect. Setting up the new HomeKit automations reveals a new aesthetic interface. It contains updated icons, bolder text styles and sizes, and possibly the most intriguing update is the dark theme. Many apps these days such as Twitter and Groupme already have a “night mode”, but with the new update the entire interface can be switched to the dark theme by allowing the user interface elements to invert colors. Whereas there probably won’t be another drastic iOS 6 to iOS 7 type of upgrade, these minor changes help go along with the new update.
So Is It Worth It?
So the big question is, is all of this home automation worth it? The answer is that that’s all up to you. Depending on your lifestyle and home choices, having a smart home might be the smarter decision. Compared to other home automation systems, this option won’t break the bank as much. You can go ahead and purchase the home app right here until the end of September for $10, and afterwards normally for $15. Home 3.0’s user friendly and aesthetically pleasing interface is becoming the smart home command center. We’re coming to a new day in age where technology is indispensable to the way humans live, so it only makes sense that we’re now bringing it to our homes.
