Ever want to know who is knocking on the other side of your door without the awkward curtain glance? With the Bosch Smart Eyes Outdoor Camera, this is possible from the comfort of your smart phone. Using the Bosch Smart Camera app, the Eyes connect to your phone and provide full HD color within a range of roughly 11 yards. Although the camera is constantly monitoring, it only record relevant events due to its integrated motion sensors. These motion sensors are able to distinguish important events from minor movements such as trees swaying in the wind or animals playing. Once relevant events occur, the live video is instantly sent and stored to the owner’s smartphone. This means, no matter how far away you are from your home, your Eyes will always know who is at the front door.
More Than Just a Camera
Unlike most home security cameras, the subtle design of the Bosch outdoor Eyes give the appearance of being an ordinary front porch light, and work as one too. With a high-resolution light and integrated sensor, this security camera can be utilized as an extremely sophisticated front door light. If you’re still not impressed with this futuristic machinery, it also has intercom capabilities. The build in microphone and speaker combination allows for two-way communication through the app. This means, if you are away from your home you can not only receive a live video feed of someone at your door, but talk to them as well.
A front porch light that has the ability of recording motion sensitive material, relay it to a phone which can be used as an intercom must be difficult to install, but it’s not. The Bosch Smart Eyes is as simple as installing an outdoor light. Using the same mounting position as your front porch light, all this camera needs is a power source and a connection to your home Wi-Fi.
A Smarter Home
If this type of technology from Bosch sounds familiar that’s because it is extremely similar to their 360 degree indoor camera. Their indoor smart camera gained instant traction as an excellent home security solution. Once placed in the middle of a room, it has the capability of recording occurrences anywhere within the room with vision similar to an owl. These cameras are just an example of Bosch’s new initiative to create a smarter and safer home. This year at the IFA consumer electronics and home application trade show in Berlin, Bosch announced Amazon’s Alexa program would be added to both the indoor and outdoor cameras. This would allow users to communicate with Alexa from almost anywhere in their house.
This technology doesn’t come cheap however. On Amazon, you could purchase a Bosch Smart Eyes Outdoor Camera right now for 254.99 pounds which includes free delivery anywhere in the UK. This translates to $345.70 in the US, Bosch plans on a US release sometime soon. Although it may cost more than an outdoor light, the Smart Eyes cost a lot less than buying an intercom, security camera, porch light, and Amazon echo, which is exactly what you would be getting.
